Day 1: Welcome to Willamette!

Welcome to the beautiful Willamette Valley! We’re traveling in early October, which is the end of the season. I’ll probably be a little chilly, especially in the evening, so think cozy and comfy when you’re packing.

You’ll check into our adorable hotel, The Dundee, located in the cute town of Dundee, Ore., just 40 miles south of Portland in the heart of wine country. Chic and centrally located, we can walk almost everywhere in town (ideal when you’ve been sipping wine all day). There’s even four separate tasting rooms attached to the hotel, so you don’t even have to go anywhere to taste some of the best Pinot Noirs in the state.

After a welcome glass at one of the tasting rooms, we’ll continue on to dinner at Trellis, a local Dundee hotspot for salads, sandwiches and lighter mains with fresh, inventive ingredients sourced from the farms around the valley. As many of us will have traveled from the East Coast and it will be late where we’re from, we can turn in early so we’re ready to hit the road in the morning.

Day 2: A Parade of Pinot

Day 2: A Parade of Pinot

Enjoy breakfast at your leisure (make sure you eat!), we’ll be picked up by A Great Oregon Wine Tour for a private van tour of the Willamette Valley’s most beautiful and most delicious wine tasting rooms. Perfect for all levels of wine enthusiasts – from newcomers to connoisseurs – this 7.5-hour trip offers the insight of expertly trained guides and visits up to 3 vineyards to sample unique varietals including renowned pinots, chardonnays and rieslings.

After the tour, we’ll have the option of heading to nearby McMinnville for shopping, art galleries, and more. This quaint 1850s town is full of history and full of fun, with plenty of tasting rooms of its own to enjoy if you haven’t had enough.

Then, dinner is served at beautiful, local Dundee restaurant, Tina’s, owned by husband and wife Michael and Dawn Stiller, who welcome each guest into their restaurant as if it was their own home. Try local oysters, roasted duck breast, and finish off with a warm seasonal cobbler a la mode. Complete the evening with a nightcap back at one of the hotel tasting rooms if you choose!

Day 3: Biking for Bottles

Day 3: Biking for Bottles

Let’s ride (e)bikes! On Sunday, we’ll have brunch at one of Dundee’s most-loved spots, Red Hills Market. With a charming selection of brunch dishes like frittatas and avocado toast, four versions of Eggs Benedict, and double mimosas served in Mason jars, it’s the perfect place to kick off another beautiful day.

We’ll head to another red building, Red Barn Rides, where we’ll rent e-bikes (or hybrids if you’re really feeling frisky) and take an open-air tour to four more wineries for tasting and relaxing. Routes vary from 10 miles to 20 miles, so we’ll see how we feel. The Woodland Loop takes you past Grand Moraine Winery, Solena Estate, Roots Wine Co., Lenn'e, Saffron Fields, and back to the barn.

In the afternoon, you’ll have some free time to do as you please. Head to one of the cute nearby towns to enjoy a little countryside culture, take a nap in your plush room before dinner, or simply enjoy the views from the hotel’s balcony. It’s up to you.

As our farewell dinner, we can all agree that there’s nothing better than pizza and wine, so we’ll head to nearby Osteria Rosmarino in the town of Newberg for their weekly Pizza & Gnocchi night. This award-winning restaurant is so much fun that diners around the Willamette Valley call it a local institution.
